Important Reminders to Protect Your Home During Freezing Temperatures
Dear Tenant:
With freezing temperatures in the forecast, please take a few precautions to protect the property and your belongings. Following these tips can help prevent damage and ensure everyone's safety:
Protect Your Home and Pipes
Keep the Heat On:
Maintain an indoor temperature of at least 65°F, even if you're away, to prevent pipes from freezing.
Open Cabinet Doors:
Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to let warm air circulate around plumbing, especially near exterior walls.
Drip Faucets:
Allow a small trickle of cold water to run from faucets connected to exposed or vulnerable pipes.
Seal Drafts:
Use weatherstripping, draft stoppers, or towels to block cold air from entering through windows and doors.
Know the Main Water Shut-Off Valve:
Familiarize yourself with the location of the main water shut-off valve in case of a burst pipe.
Disconnect Outdoor Hoses:
Remove and store outdoor hoses, and cover outdoor faucets with insulated covers to prevent freezing.
Close Garage Doors:
Keep garage doors closed to protect water lines located inside the garage.
Protect Pets, Plants, and Pool Equipment
Bring Pets Inside:
Bring all pets indoors during freezing weather to ensure their safety and comfort.
Bring Plants Inside or Cover Them:
Move any outdoor plants inside, or cover them with frost cloths or blankets to shield them from freezing temperatures.
Maintain Pool Equipment (If Applicable):
Let pool equipment, including pumps and filters, run continuously during freezing weather.
If you notice any leaks, freezes, or unusual issues around the pool equipment, notify us immediately.
Fireplace Usage
Do Not Use the Fireplace:
Per city rental code, the use of the fireplace is not permitted. Please avoid lighting fires to ensure compliance and safety.
